The results are here (and my time is here). For a first half marathon attempt, pretty happy with the result. Time of 106:20 is ok but the run was a little all over the place – fast first 10km split, but real slow next 10km. The start was way too quick, partly because of the amazing number of people all sorting themeselves out in the first few kms and partly because I had no idea how to pace myself when running with that many other people.
A couple of things I learned post-run:
- My slightly older running shoes really just don’t cut it over longer distances anymore – super messed up foot pain post-race. I need new shoes, time for some sweet new Asics kicks.
- My Nike+ kit really needs calibrating – the event is officially measured at 21.1kms. My Nike+ reckons I ran 22.67km, sketchy. Here’s the run:
Anyway, happy to get through it and now looking around for the next event to give it another shot and try to break 100 minutes for the half.
